Ducks now with added off camera flash

A colleague very kindly lent me a his Speedlite 550 EX and I’ve tried out taking photo’s with off camera flash.

The added shadw does make a surprising difference to these few simple shots of few plastic ducks.

The camera geekery all the pictures in this set were taken with a Speedlite 550 EX on camera in master mode with a Speedlite 430 EX slave to the left on the shelf.

Run away, there’s Cisco books and a man with a camera

It’s been far too long since I posted any pictures and this blog was meant to be mainly about photography and not just techie things.

This evening I had a play with the speedlite and a few different lens. This is the first time I’ve taken a photo with the flash which I’ve been happy with since I got it in June. This was helped by the purchase of some more photography books (does it show that I married a librarian ?) , and it looks like I may be getting a clue about using a flash.

In fact the future may hold some experimentation with off-camera flash. When that happens I may very well need to find some other still life subjects, as different rubber ducks may get a little old quite quickly.
